![]() ![]() There is also a new environment in the single-player game - a mutated, Tiberium-rich landscape with dotted with tainted plant life. At 18 missions, Firestorm weighs in pretty hefty for an expansion pack and, while we haven't played through the entire build yet, most of the missions were original and were held together well with a compelling narrative. ![]() This brings everything full circle and really allows you to experience the battles from both points of view. If you're on a particular map in a certain GDI mission, you can expect to see the same map in the equivalent NOD mission. For starters, the GDI and NOD missions tie together much more logically than in any previous C&C game, basically mirroring each other and meeting at a common ending. They got it right the very first time they tried it, so why change it? Even though the basic structure of the game stays true to the original, Firestorm adds several new features to Tiberian Sun that greatly enhance the gameplay. While Tiberian Sun was criticized for not offering much innovation to the C&C universe, you can't blame Westwood for going with a tried and true formula. Your first mission as the GDI will be to recover this artifact from a downed transport or, as the NOD, to prevent the GDI forces from recovering Kane's ultimate treasure. In an attempt to discover a way to impede the progress of the Tiberium, the GDI invade Kane's former temple in Cairo to recover the TacituS, an alien artifact that is believed to hold the secret of Tiberium. Once harmless creatures have become vicious mutated killers, and it looks as if the Tiberium is going to engulf the entire planet unless something is done soon. The poisonous extra-terrestrial element has become so prevalent across the surface of the Earth (and even on the ocean floor for that matter) that the existence of all life is in jeopardy. As you would expect, the Global Defense Initiative is still keeping a sharp eye on Slavik and the Brotherhood, but there's a much greater force to fear this time around - the Tiberium itself. which may not have been such a great idea after all. How is he going about doing this? Well, for starters Slavik brings the great CABAL back online. ![]() Although the Brotherhood of NOD has become disorganized due to the death of Kane, Slavik is looking to re-form the Brotherhood into the powerful force that Kane envisioned at its conception. Firestorm begins shortly after the conclusion of Tiberian Sun. ![]()
